How I Rebuilt L Community – and Locked It In for Good
They tried to wipe it out once. They will not get a second chance.
A year ago, they watched it fall apart.
Now it’s back, legally protected, structurally permanent, and out of reach.
Here’s what’s now locked in:
The tech is rebuilt.
We engineered a fortified verification system to keep men out. Permanently. No gaps. No backdoors. The code is ours. The record is legal. The lock holds. The venue is under CIC.
L Community is now a registered Community Interest Company. That means no private profit, no asset sell-off, no way to hijack or dilute the mission.Safeguarding is systematised.
We built the first lesbian-specific safeguarding protocol under the Equality Act 2010. It’s enforceable under Southwark’s Public Sector Equality Duty. No one else holds it.Institutional weight is on record.
120+ professionals – NHS staff, police officers, teachers, and MPs – have backed us. That includes Kemi Badenoch’s office and Rosie Duffield. This isn’t optics. It’s alignment. No one owns us.
No corporate strings. No backroom funders. No favours owed. We built this from scratch and paid the full cost. No one can pull the plug. The Lesbian Pride March is permanent.
It’s written into our constitution. Annual. Ours. Non-negotiable.Paid safeguarding lead secured.
We now have a salaried staff member trained to implement and uphold our safeguarding system, day in, day out.
Why this matters:
When I ran free lesbian events, I did it because no one else would.
When I said no men, the bookings vanished. The media turned. I lost every event.
That didn’t kill L Community. It clarified the mission.
This platform isn’t funded by tolerance. It’s engineered for permanence.
And now, the infrastructure is real.
Private investors offered deals. We walked away. Their money never built this, and it never will.
Because the moment you need their permission, it’s not yours anymore.
Lesbians are being erased from public space.
We didn’t wait for someone to fix it.
We built the system ourselves.
And this time –
it’s untouchable.

Excellent and good luck. This may be another bit of the tide turning... 👏👏😘
Congratulations! Outrageous that you had to go to the lengths that you did to keep out men.
